ACCOUNTS & REGISTRATION

  • Join our Discord! As a part of the community we host a lot of our Out of Character interactions in our discord server. Optionally, members may join in on discord for free and relish in entertainment with the community. If not, we keep ourselves invested in the site chatbox as well! There are designated tabs for members to post in which include an Updates tab, general chat, tagging for posts and more!

  • One Account per Character. Each character created on the site MUST have their own account. The information kept for each character is unique and will be organized as such with discord usernames-or tag names if you are not with our discord group-as a method of identification between character and player. Member will see this option of Tag names or Discord names in user profiles. It is required that it be filled out during creation of a new character. (identified as "player" in the Character Sheet in profiles)

  • We have an Unlimited Character Count. We understand the thrill of creating new characters in a world with so much to do. We encourage all to flow wild with creativity and not feel restrained with a character count. Besides, even the staff have many unique characters to share.

  • Absences and Leaves are Respected. We know personal lives matter. Please note that we do not carry out activity checks of the sort and respect anyone wishes for an absence or leave of the site. We simply ask that if you are involved in an important plot or event, that Staff, at least, have notice to properly improvise actions of characters who play high risk roles within the roleplay. Such roles may include Jarls, Events that advance a plotline, and so on. Members are always welcome back to us at any time.

BANNERS, AVATARS & SIGNATURES

  • Keep all images PG-13.. With respect to all who view our forum and to ensure the comforts of our viewers, we ask that all images remain PG-13. Gore, should be kept minimal at best; nudity is absolutely prohibited. Any images not pertaining to this rule will be removed without warning.

  • Image theft is PROHIBITED under any circumstances. We strongly require that all images be unique and free of use. If the image you want to use is under copyright, DON'T USE IT! Please utilize image resources such as Unsplash, DeviantArt, Flickr and various others for character references, banners, avatars and the like. You can also request an image to be made by one of our members in the Discord group!

  • Images should follow given dimensions at all times. To prevent the forum from being stretched or expanded, or any sort of overlapping, we ask that images be kept a certain dimension mainly for Avatars, banners and signatures. The dimensions are as follows: Bleh.

CHARACTER CREATION & MANAGEMENT

  • Characters may be between the ages of 12 and up! We do allow characters from child to elderly. As such we have a few guidelines to follow. Children may be played as depicted from Viking childhoods which may include drinking, hunting, duels, etc. As per the roleplay rating on our website, we prohibit the acts of sexual intercourse between characters regardless of situations. We want all of our members to be comfortable and read along without the details; this goes for all characters. As children, we do support an optional "Training Period" for children between the ages of 12 and 15 known as The Rite of Passage. Adults joining a new clan may also go through the Rite of Passage unique to their clans. As for the Elderly, most don't live past 40 years, but in this case, those who may be above the age of 40 years may be considered and regarded as Ancients blessed by the Gods. Ancients who like past 40 may be retired and teaching the young or living alone if applicable. Those who stick to their trade of work consider it an Art. All characters may age as the player chooses within plot. Read the Guide on Clans and Organizations to learn more about Rite of Passage for your chosen clan.

  • Magick and Witchcraft are welcome. We allow the use of magic under the appropriate categories of Siedr, and Elemental, respectively. Members are not required to use magic, as not all Norsemen did. Characters may be born with their gifts or discover them later on; others may be granted the gifts from a God or Goddess if they choose with a plot or event in place; it is up to the player. To learn more about the different Magick of Silverot, please read through the associated topics in the Magick guide. Keep in mind that all forms of Magick need to have strengths and weaknesses as well as reasonable limitations to avoid the use of powerplay.

  • Create your own backstory. While characters may be Norsemen and women, they histories are up to members to decide. Perhaps they were a slave from Wolfenfordshire and brought to Canderfort or native to Canderfort and moved to Briganot on a journey to raid and discover new adventures. Whatever the path, characters are free to explore. Characters will be able to start and move up in the Social Classes or move down. Read more about Social Classes before choosing one.

  • Biographies are OPTIONAL; Character Sheets are MANDATORY! While many may think a biography is mandatory, we do not. Members will be allowed to write biographies when they choose or not at all. We do ask that all member fill out the Character Sheets in profiles before they rp. You will need to submit a face claim and database addition as well.

THREADS AND TOPICS

  • We have no Post Count. As a community, we want all of our members to be comfortable in their level and method of writing. That being said, please respect all who may write more or lesser than the partner they are with. We encourage anyone to improve and write to their hearts content. As such, we don't find it necessary to set a post limit or requirement to be met. We do recommend a large post count, something more than a sentence or two to give every participant something to reply to.

  • Translate speech if not in English. As part of immersion, we welcome the user of languages spoke with Canada, Greenland, Norway and England. We ask that phrases used be translated to the English language for the sake of those who may not understand. To add the translation, simply play it in italics beside the speech so we know what the character said even if the intention is for a character not to understand. It is for the sake of our readers to understand what is going on.

  • Liquid Roleplay is allowed. Though some prefer one thread at a time, we do allow characters to be in more than one place at a time. We recommend a timeline method where each thread follows suit to another thread but players are free to roleplay as they see fit.

  • Tag a Staff Account for Thread Maintenance. We enjoy an organized, clean forum and with it, we ask all members to tag The High One when a thread needs to be moved, locked, deleted etc. Threads will be archived and may be pulled back out at any time.

  • Be a part of the community. We have all sorts of things to keep members interested in what is happening in the roleplay. Not only do we have a competitive Monthly Raffle to earn pots of Tokens outside the roleplay, but we also have crazy competitions between character in the roleplay as well, such as Silverots Annual Dragonrot Festival where clans compete against one another for the Dragon treasure; even a monthly meme contest! Get in on the action!

  • Activity forms should be posted with the character who will be participating in the activity.. We understand a need to throw a form in when time is short, but the start of an activity depends on when all members are prepared to begin. Don't rush, but be prompt. We understand Smile

  • All group-based forum activities have a 24-48hr posting limit.. We are not disclaiming that life outside of a forum can be busy, but it's important to others when they want to post in the activity without too long a wait. As such, all members will have 24-48hrs to respond in a topic that includes more than two participants before they are skipped until next turn. This rule can be overridden by overall activity in the group unless it pertains to a site-wide event or activity. Members will be expected to inform staff of any absences if their characters are a leadership role or character of importance.
