We, the staff and current members of SOV, greet you warmly. As you may know, Spirits of Valhalla is a Viking age roleplay set in 9th century Scandinavia and The British Isles; you will know the world you explore as Silverot. We are a 3-2-3 rated roleplay and pride ourselves in a lore built upon the existing characters of our site. Please take the time to read through the useful info of this guide to help you get started on your journey to Valhalla.

Read the Rules
The Rules and Guidelines cover everything from character Registration, to Character Sheet creation, to image dimensions, to everything after that. Rules are important and we respect everyone as an individual and strive for a "no jerks" level community.

Registration
As mentioned in our site Rules, please respect our method of one account per character. The reason for this is the use of the Character Sheet system for those who prefer a simplified biography method as opposed to the detailed, optional version in the "Create a Viking" forum. Usernames should be in the format of First, Middle (if desired) and Last Name. If a last name is taken, please specify a middle name and specify clearly in character history whether or not a character is related to an existing character with the same name. Please make sure to get permission from the member with the same last name to become a relative. Characters registered without completed Character Sheets will be deleted after 60 days (1 month) after a written notice 7 days prior to deletion.

Character Sheets
Upon registration, it is MANDATORY for all members to have a completed and up-to-date character sheet regardless of whether you choose to use the biography option as well. Character Sheets are located in the profile of your character and need to be activated by YOU once registration is complete. Character Sheets can only be edited in the editor mode of the profile. While creating your character, please be sure to adhere to the guidelines posted in the Rules for character Creation. Staff will be reviewing Character Sheets for completion and Biographies for those who use them for accuracy according to any existing information and site lore. Once your character sheet and biography(if desired) are complete, all characters must submit a face claim if using a reference of actress, actor, singer, etc. If you are using your own art, please let us know so we can add you to the exempt list. All characters must be submitted to the Database. Please Note:

All characters start with the Icelandic Horse as a Mount
Magic abilities may only be in the range of Seidr or Elemental
All biographies must contain Character name, Age, Gender, Clan, Occupation, Alignment and Social Class somewhere in the topic that it easy to identify and find if you choose to use your own template than the one we provided.

Entering the Roleplay
When it comes down to joining the roleplay, there are many different ways to interact with others; or introduce yourself. All members can thrust their character into an activity, begin a solo rp, or monolog of your character or join an existing roleplay thread besides cresting one of your own. Communicate with others in our plotting forum then post the link in our discord or the site chatbox for others to see as well. It's up to you! Your character, your rules..

Posting Guidelines
We ask that players respect post lengths of the authors and other participants and try to meet their level of writing, in length, as best you can. Improving writing skills is always welcome and respecting a players writing level is polite. Keep in mind that many of our activities and group threads have a posting frame of 24-48 hrs. Be sure to read activity guides in their respective forums for more details. If you plan to use a posting table, please remember that table widths cannot exceed 450px. We have no post minimum or maximum; write what is comfortable for you.

Seeking Guidance
If you need assistance or have a question about anything to do with the site, lore, roleplay etc., we ask that all of our members, per site Rules, use the Guidance forum. Staff will accept private messages for those who may be uncomfortable but please note that we want every to know that even the simplest questions may be a question on someone else's mind too; so don't be shy. Same thing goes for out maintenance forum and suggestions as well. Members who participate in helping answer questions CORRECTLY have the potential of earning free Tokens or Silver as well as having a suggestion put into action as well. We want a group of heavily involved members and this roleplay is for you, so be active and participate.

Spirits of Valhalla has many basic needs such as dedicated staff, original plot and setting...so what makes us special? Honestly, it's you. Our member base will drive us to success. As a team, staff are dedicated to ensure your time here is entertaining and enjoyable. In exchange for our hosting, we simply ask for transparency about absences, following the rules we laid out and just having fun. The feeedoms enlisted are not only the option to post a detailed biography but also every opportunity to be the spotlight in the roleplay with our character Events and enjoy various activities including our yearly tournament and monthly token raffle.
